SharpLink earns 420 ETH in a week from staking – What does this mean?

Last week, Sharplink earned an additional 420 ETH by simply staking existing Ethereum (ETH) holdings without purchasing any more ETH. With this, total staking rewards have now reached 24,338 ETH.

This occurs because Ethereum’s staking dynamics have undergone a significant change. The number of active validators for Ethereum continued to decline at the beginning of July, dropping from approximately 886,000 to 880,000.

However, by mid-July, the trend began to change. Interestingly, by the end of the month, the number of active validators increased steadily from 880,000 to between 887,000 and 888,000. Despite its modest size, the increase is notable because it represents the first long-term rebound after several months of declines.

Is ETH’s staking ecosystem strengthening?

Roughly 2.8 to 2.9 million at the beginning of July Ethereum They were waiting in the “entrance” line. By the end of July, this number gradually dropped to between 2.4 and 2.5 million ETH.

However, this does not indicate a drop in demand, but rather that the Ethereum network is processing new validators faster than more staking requests.

Meanwhile, the “Exit” line remained at almost zero for the entire month, except for a few brief spikes. This suggests that there is little selling pressure or profit taking from existing stakers, as suggested by the small number of validators attempting to withdraw their staked ETH.

Considering that there were many more Ethereum looking to get into staking than leaving in July, the high entry tail and small exit tail collectively suggest strong net entry into the staking ecosystem.

This setting also explains why businesses like Sharplink, which actively stake the ETH treasury, continue to receive staking rewards as more money is still invested in maintaining the network rather than abandoning it.

Sharplink and Bitmine

However, compared to Bitmine, the largest Ethereum DAT, the latter currently has 4,917,189 ETH through its institutional staking platform MAVAN (Made in America VALidator Network), accounting for around 85% of its holdings.

In terms of assets, Sharplink has 868,699 ETH worth $1.65 billion. Bitmine has 5,787,414 ETH Its value is 11.8 billion dollars. However, at the time of writing, Sharplink’s share price increased by 0.94% to $6.44, and Bitmine’s share price decreased by 1.95% to $17.57.

All this happened while ETH was trading around $1,903.99, following a 1.47% increase from the previous day. Additionally, the ETH ETF was seeing more inflows compared to outflows over the past nine weeks.

Final Summary

  • Sharplink has increased its staking rewards and now has 24,338 ETH in total rewards but remains behind BitMine.
  • The active validators of the entry queue, exit queue, and Ethereum validator queue further clarified why Shaprlink was staking ETH.
