Housing Legislation Including CBDC Ban Will Become Law


US Senate sent THE ROAD TO A 21ST CENTURY HOUSING CODE To the President’s desk to be signed into law.

The legislation garnered significant bipartisan support, a rarity in today’s fragmented political environment.

Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee Tim ScottHe said the law is a big win for families seeking the American Dream.

“I know the power of a safe place to call home because I saw my mother work hard to make this dream possible for our family in North Charleston. The 21st Century Housing Pathway Act will help more Americans put down roots, build a better future, and find not just a house, but a home, and I can’t wait to see President Trump sign it into law.”

The purpose of the legislation is “cCut red tape, unlock housing supply, protect taxpayers, maintain local controlTo increase home ownership.

The bill’s language includes a ban on central bank digital currency (CBDC), stating that the US Federal Reserve cannot issue CBDCs or anything similar. The ban expires on December 31, 2030.

The temporary ban stems from concerns about government abuse and privacy rights; because a government-issued digital dollar can provide extraordinary information about transfers and payments made by individuals and companies. While the US is focusing on regulated, privately issued stablecoins to support the digital dollar, some jurisdictions, such as the EU and China, are trying to support government-issued digital currencies.

GENIUS Act It became law in the US in 2025 and outlines the requirements for privately issued “payment stablecoins”.
