Maple Finance (SYRUP) has experienced a major rally, moving in tandem with the broader market recovery, but the protocol’s own developments underpin its recent performance.
One of the main factors driving the increase was Maple Finance’s recent partnership with Kraken, a US-based crypto exchange, to provide on-chain asset-backed financing.
The regulation allows investors to access liquidity against crypto assets and further deepens the ties between traditional finance and on-chain markets.
Following the announcement, Maple Finance’s native token SYRUP rose nearly 20%, making it one of the biggest single-day gains in the crypto market. US investors alone achieved approximately $2.4 million in SYRUP trading volume following this move.
SYRUP’s on-chain ecosystem is strengthening
The on-chain protocol has delivered a healthy flow of capital, which is reflected in Maple’s total value locked (TVL).
According to DeFiLlama, at press time data shows TVL increased by $201 million between June 8 and the time the news was published, bringing the figure to approximately $2.05 billion.
An increase of this scale means investors have a positive outlook on both the asset and the protocol more broadly. So far in the second quarter, the protocol’s gross revenue has reached $24.16 million; This was its third-highest quarter since its inception in the first quarter of 2023.

Adding to this picture is the buyback program initiated by Maple Finance to reduce the circulating supply of the token.
At the time of this report, the buyback has reached its second-highest level ever, marking the second-highest quarterly buyback since the program began in the fourth quarter of 2025, at approximately $746,460.
Redemptions, by design, tend to support the performance of the token, especially during periods of increased demand.
Permanents add to the appearance
Continuous market trading activity has reinforced the flow of capital and the asset’s strong run.
Maple’s permanent contracts have provided a steady flow of capital and Open Interest has risen to roughly $20.7 million at the time of writing; a 46% increase in the past day alone.
Open Interest alone doesn’t tell the whole story, so the Funding Rate provides context as to whether capital is trending upward or downward.

At the time of writing, the Funding Rate has turned positive and is at 0.0058%; This shows that most capital is betting on the long side in anticipation of an uptrend.
It is noteworthy that funding data shows only a moderate upward trend, which generally bodes well for SYRUP to continue its performance. Because investors are not exposed to excessive risk, this setup avoids the kind of mass liquidation scenarios that would force capital out of the market, even on the spot side.
Overall, the outlook remains positive and SYRUP has a good chance of posting further gains, at least in the short term.
Final Summary
- SYRUP rose nearly 20% after Maple Finance teamed up with Kraken to offer crypto-backed loans, with US investors driving most of the trading activity.
- Money continues to flow into the protocol and ongoing token buybacks are helping support the price.
